I think that the quote is saying that if you are like the catterpillar and you don't know what you're going to be later in life, but soon you will transform into something as beautiful as a butterfly.

I think this is saying that even if someone does not show talent for anything in particular, does not show that they are extreamly gifted, or does not show that they are "destined for greatness", they can still prosper into something wonderful, without showing any signs of it. In other words, do not judge people by what they show you because they might change and become something compleatly different.

I believe that this particular quote is just a view on overall human nature; while one may seem incapable in the academic field, be noted as ugly, nerdy, dumb, boring, or even insecure, that one person will always have something special that differs from any other person. That "catapillar" will eventually have to grow wings, and will hopefully fly and conquer all of his/her personal issues and become someone great. By gaining this confidence, accepting personal identity, and cherishing the beauty of him/herslef and the earth, he/she will be able to say,"Look that (my life) was not that bad after all.

I think that the saying means that you do not know what you are going to be but it is destined inside of you. Someone might think they will be a doctor but then something happens and they turn out to be something different.

The meaning of this quote is that you can not judge a person from what they are now because they have their whole life to do something great, or something bad.

I think that it means that you could become anything. you don't fully know that you are going to become something. You may become something else. Maybe something that you least expected.

I think it is saying that a caterpillar dosen't have a set destiny and being a butterfly is its own decision.

I think this comment means that you din't know what is going to happen in live, just like the catterpillar doesn't know he will be a butterfly some day.

i think this means that you shouldnt underestimate people and think they are bad at everything because someday they could turn around and outshine you.

I believe that his quote touches on the the similarites of human being. All butterflies start as catapillars, just as all humans start of as babies.
But...
I believe the quote emphasizes that we "cant judge a book by it's cover". Even though we may all look the same and act the same as babies (in this case catapillars) that doesnt give us an outlook on what we are going to be in 20 years. When an everyday person spots a catapillar, they most likely dont know what color its wings are to be when it becomes a butterfly.
